Morning in Advent
Morning Prayer in Advent
Getting started:
In the name of God:
Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.
-or-
In the name of God:
Creator, Redeemer and Sustainer. Amen.
Morning Declaration: Psalm 46:1-3
“God is our refuge and strength,
always ready to help
in times of trouble.
So we will not fear
when earthquakes come
and the mountains crumble
into the sea.
Let the oceans roar and foam.
Let the mountains tremble
as the waters surge!”
A Humble Prayer of Need (Luke 18:13)
God be merciful and help me,
because I'm not all I should be.
Praying Like Jesus (Matthew 6:9-13)
God of heaven and earth
and all that is:
I honor you and
I commit myself to you.
I will follow your Way
in all times and places,
and I'm content
with what you bring me today.
I'm only human
and I need your help
to share with others
the grace I need from you.
Thank you,
for being my strength
when I am weak,
and my wisdom
when I speak.
Thank you,
for the peace to go forward
and for always being with me.
Amen.
Praying Like Mary (Luke 1:38)
Here I am, trusting in God;
I want God’s will to be done in me.
Your Heart & Mind:
Take a moment to reflect on
these prayers and to ask for
God's help with the day.
A Prayer of Advent Dedication
(Isaiah 40:3-5)
"O God, I want to be open
to your will and your leading.
Help me to identify
all that I should remove
from my habits and hurrying
to make room for you.
Slow me down and
show me the goodness
that I should cultivate
in myself.
Today, I want to remove
each and every obstacle
in my heart and mind
that could keep you
from being at home
in my life."
Breathe deeply until you are still,
and finish:
Amen.
- or -
Let it be.
