Midday in Eastertide

Midday Prayer - Renew & Stretch

It's time to "stretch" our muscles and our spirit, to catch our breath in the hustle of the day.

Beginning

   In the name of God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.

     -or-

   In the name of God: Creator, Redeemer and Sustainer. Amen.

Our opening scripture readings and prayers
remind us to keep
looking to our God
for what we need
in this day.

Midday Reminder: Psalm 121:1-2

   “I will lift up my eyes to the mountains.
   Where will my help come from?
   My help comes from the Lord,
   Who made heaven and earth.”

The Tax Collector’s Prayer (Luke 18:13)
   God, be merciful to me, a sinner.

The Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13)
   Our Father, who art in heaven,
   hallowed be Thy name;
   Thy kingdom come;
   Thy will be done;
   on earth as it is in heaven.
   Give us this day our daily bread
   and forgive us our trespasses
   as we forgive those who trespass against us.
   And lead us not into temptation;
   but deliver us from evil.
   For thine is the kingdom, and the power
   and the glory, forever and ever. Amen

Here for a few moments
you use your own words
to express the things
that are on your mind
and in your heart.

Your Heart & Mind:

Is there anything on your heart you would ask of God?

What is happening within you in this day?

Who would you ask God to bless right now?

A Prayer of Life (Romans 6:3-8)

   I would let go of the old ways, the dead ways,

   to go forward in life with newness and hope;

   I want hold onto what I should keep

   and to release what is holding me back.
   Walk with me, Lord. Live in me.

Our final prayer sends
us back into the day
with anticipation.

A Prayer of Serving (Luke 22:24-27)

   Help me to be a servant among all people!

   Lord, just as you loved and served,

   make me humble and to ready serve.

   Suppress my ego and ambition with love!

   Keep my heart and my mind open
   to the beauty of all your world.

Breathe deeply until you are still:
   Amen.

     - or -

   Let it be.
