Evening in Christmas
Evening Prayer in Christmas
Beginning
In the name of God:
Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.
-or-
In the name of God:
Creator, Redeemer and Sustainer. Amen.
An Evening Reminder:
Psalm 62:1-2&6*
"For God alone my soul in silence waits;
from God comes my salvation.
God alone is my rock and my salvation,
my stronghold, so that I shall not
be greatly shaken.
For God alone my soul in silence waits;
truly, there is my hope."
Remembering to Rely On God
(James 4:13-16)
O God, this day is done
and another will soon begin;
Be there waiting for me
and raise me to its challenges.
Raise me also to its opportunities.
I'm depending on you, my God,
and I rest easier knowing
you will be with me at sunrise.
A brief reflection before bed:
What are one or two hopes
you have for tomorrow?
Ask God to help you to see
those hopes become reality.
An Evening Reminder: Psalm 127:2
"It is useless for you
to work so hard
from early morning
until late at night,
anxiously working
for food to eat;
for God gives rest
to his loved ones."
Let the Night Fall
(Psalm 91:1-6)
If I lay down in my home
or if I travel far from it,
you, God, are my shelter and hope.
As you have been with me
through the morning and midday,
I keep my trust with you
now at the close of the day.
My God, take and hold
all my fears and worries.
My God, take and hold
me as I rest.
Your faithfulness is all I need.
Breathe deeply until you are still,
and finish:
Amen.
- or -
Let it be.
