Midday in Christmas
Midday Prayer in Christmas
Getting started:
In the name of God:
Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.
-or-
In the name of God:
Creator, Redeemer and Sustainer. Amen.
A Daily Reminder:
Colossians 3:12-15
“Since God chose you to be
the holy people he loves,
you must clothe yourselves
with tenderhearted mercy, kindness,
humility, gentleness, and patience.
Make allowance for each other’s faults,
and forgive anyone who offends you.
Remember, the Lord forgave you,
so you must forgive others.
Above all, clothe yourselves with love,
which binds us all together
in perfect harmony.
And let the peace that comes
from Christ rule in your hearts.
For as members of one body
you are called to live in peace.
And always be thankful.”
And a Response:
God, help me to offer
the forgiveness needed
by those around me,
and to feel the peace
of your Spirit in myself!
Praying Like Jesus (Matthew 6:9-13)
God of heaven and earth
and all that is:
I honor you and
I commit myself to you.
I will follow your Way
in all times and places,
and I'm content
with what you bring me today.
I'm only human
and I need your help
to share with others
the grace I need from you.
Thank you,
for being my strength
when I am weak,
and my wisdom
when I speak.
Thank you,
for the peace to go forward
and for always being with me.
Amen.
A Prayer for Focus (Colossians 3:1-4)
God, it's easy for me to get
distracted and overwhelmed
in the frustrations and hustle
of the day.
Help me keep my focus on Jesus
for my hope and my peace are
dependent on Him.
Help me keep a vital connection
to the One who gives me life
and wisdom!
A brief Christmas reflection:
In the incarnation of Jesus Christ
God has drawn near and made
every effort to break down the
barriers between the Divine and
humanity.
What can we do in our daily lives
to maintain our sense of nearness
and connection to God?
What is distracting us and getting
in the way of keeping our focus
on Jesus?
Let's faithfully grab onto both these
questions and find some answers!
A Prayer for the Rest of the Day (Isaiah 40:31)
God, be my strength!
I've got things to do
and work to accomplish.
Help me overcome
every obstacle, fatigue
and frustration.
I rededicate myself
to you and your Way.
Breathe deeply until you are still,
and finish:
Amen.
- or -
Let it be.
